“Boom or Bust” is a unique research project cleverly disguised as a hip-hop ode celebrating the MicroISP entrepreneur. Drawing from the author’s personal journey of constructing a fiber-to-the-home network on Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast, the article aims to shed light on the MicroISP business in rural regions. It weaves together the author’s entrepreneurial experience with a thorough examination of international network topologies affecting internet quality in remote areas. Through a hip-hop lens, this research article offers a captivating framework to comprehend the challenges and opportunities faced by MicroISPs while highlighting the intricate tale of an internet entrepreneur’s venture in an underserved region.
